Sono appena state annunciate le candidature agli European Film Awards 2024, i premi che vengono assegnati al meglio del cinema europeo. Emilia Pérez di Jacques Audiard (Premio della giuria e Prix d’Interprétation Féminine all’interno cast al 77esimo Festival di Cannes) è il favorito di quest’anno, seguito da titoli del calibro di The Substance di Coralie Fargeat (Prix du Scénario a Cannes77) e La Stanza Accanto di Pedro Almodóvar (Leone d’oro a Venezia81. Presenti anche Dahomey di Mati Diop (Orso d’oro alla 74esima Berlinale) e Il Seme del Fico Sacro di Mohammad Rasoulof (Premio speciale della giuria a Cannes77). C’è anche un po’ d’Italia con la nomination di Vermiglio, il film di Maura Delpero vincitore del Gran premio della giuria all’81esima Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia e Queer, grazie all’interpretazione di Daniel Craig. Vermiglio candidato, l’Italia ha qualche possibilità di vincere?
Come si può notare dalle candidature ai 37esimi European Film Awards, l’Italia è presente con Vermiglio, film di Maura Delpero che si è aggiudicato il Gran premio della giuria all’81esima Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia. Bisogna essere molto chiari: per quanto le due candidature per miglior film europeo e miglior regista siano un vanto e motivo d’orgoglio, Vermiglio ha davvero pochissime possibilità di vittoria. Il favorito assoluto resta infatti Emilia Pérez, ma anche titoli come The Substance, The Room Next Door e The Seed of the Sacred Fig sembrano due passi avanti. In questo senso, è difficile immaginare anche solo una nomination per l’Oscar al miglior film internazionale 2025, ma la speranza resta l’ultima a morire.
