Fin dalla sua prima edizione nel 1998, quello dei British Independent Film Awards resta un appuntamento cinematografico molto importante nella stagione. Arrivando alla fine del mese di Novembre, infatti, segna l’avvio delle grandi celebrazioni di fine ed inizio anno nuovo, dagli EFA ai Golden Globes, per arrivare ovviamente alla tanto attesa Notte degli Oscar. Il film My Father’s Shadow, esordio alla regia per Akinola Davies Jr, guida la classifica delle nomination ai British Independent Film Awards con ben 12 candidature, seguito dalle 10 di Pillion, con Alexander Skarsgård. British Independent Film Awards 2025: tutte le nomination

La passata edizione, dei premi che celebrano il meglio del cinema indipendente britannico, ha visto trionfare il Kneecap di Rich Peppiatt come Miglior Film. I BIFA27 hanno anche registrato la vittoria di Anora come Miglior Film Indipendente Internazionale, categoria dove sono stati candidati anche No Other Land, Il seme del fico sacro e La Chimera della “nostra” Alice Rohrwacher. A guidare la classifica delle nomination dell’edizione 28 dei British Independent Film Awards 2025 è My Father’s Shadow, opera prima di Akinola Davies Jr. con ben 12 candidature, presentato in anteprima al Un Certain Regard del Festival di Cannes 2025 dove ha vinto la Menzione Speciale per la Caméra d’Or.

Il film è stato inoltre scelto in rappresentazione del Regno Unito ai prossimi Premi Oscar, nella categoria del Miglior Film Internazionale. A seguire la classifica delle nomination con 10 è Pillion, il film di Harry Lighton con protagonista Alexander Skarsgård e tratto dal romanzo Box Hill di Adam Mars-Jones. La cerimonia della 28a edizione si terrà il prossimo 30 novembre ed ecco la lista delle nomination ufficiali ai British Independent Film Awards 2025.
